"Lemonade" by author Fred Thompson. I bought this book in 2002 while visiting my sister in North Carolina on one of our many shopping trips. It has some really great recipes. Like the book says, "Homemade lemonade is comfort food".
I also bought his "Iced Tea" book.
Grated zest of 2 lemons
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups water
LEMONADE
2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 12 lemons). 5 or 6 of the rinds reserved and roughly chopped
3 cups cold water
Lemon slices for garnish (optional)
and of course fresh mint out of the garden
- To make the sugar syrup, combine the zest, sugar, and water in a medium-size saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Remove from the heat, cover, and let steep for 15 minutes.
- To make the lemonade, pour the sugar syrup into a 2-quart container. Let cool, then add the lemon juice, chopped lemon rinds, and cold water. Stir well to combine.
- Chill until very cold. Serve over ice, garnished with lemon slices if desire.
Makes a little shy of 2 quarts
Tip: The lemon zest-infused sugar syrup is an elegant way to sweeten and add lemon flavor to iced tea. Set out a small pitcher the next time you serve iced tea.

I love good lemonade, and I'm glad you supplied this recipe for it. Will have to be sure and try it. I usually buy it in the carton in the cooler at Publix, but this is definitely worth a shot. I can serve it to some of my favorite munchkins this summer. Thanks so much for sharing...
Happy Foodie Friday!

The only thing as good as sweet tea on a hot day is lemonade. I love the idea of the lemon-infused sugar syrup in tea!
What a wonderful refreshing recipe for a hot summer's day. Sounds yummy! Amy :)

Ah, not just a great lemonade recipe but an author suggestion as well! I love finding new authors to read while I am sipping some cold lemonade.

I enjoyed this so much. An old diner in town always brings sugar syrup to the table for iced tea. It really, really makes a difference, taste wise.
I definitely have to try this recipe -- thanks for posting it!
Thanks for stopping by earlier and leaving the nice comment.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
